Prayer to Saint James
the Apostle
O glorious Apostle, Saint James, who by reason of thy fervent and generous heart
was chosen by Jesus to be witness of His glory on Mount Tabor, and of His agony in Gethsemane; thou, whose very name is a symbol of warfare and victory: obtain for us strength and consolation in the unending warfare of this life,
that, having costantly and generously followed Jesus,
we may be victors in the strife and deserve to receive
the victor’s crown in heaven. Amen.

Novena to
St. Joan of Arc
Glorious St. Joan of Arc,
Filled with compassion for those who invoke you,
with love for those who suffer, heavily laden with
the weight of my troubles,
I kneel at your feet and humbly beg you to take my present
need under your special protection... (mention here).
Vouchsafe to recommend it
to the Blessed Virgin Mary,
and lay it before the throne of Jesus. Cease not to intercede for me until my request is granted.
Above all, obtain for me the grace to one day meet God face to face and with you and Mary and all the angels and saints praise Him
through all eternity.
O most powerful Saint Joan, do not let me lose my soul, but obtain for me the grace of winning my ways to heaven, forever and ever.
Amen.

Prayer to
St. John the Baptist
O God, You raised up
St. John the Baptist
to prepare a perfect person for Christ.
We call upon St. John’s intercession to properly prepare us with a true sense of repentance to receive
Your grace and salvation. Make us faithful to truth and justice, as You did Your servant, John the Baptist, herald of Your Son’s birth and death. Lord, may You increase Your life within us. Amen.
E734-964
St. John of the Cross
Prayer
O God,
by whose grace Your servant John of the Cross, kindled with the flame of Your love, became a burning and a shining light in Your Church: Grant that we also may be aflame
with the spirit of love and discipline, and walk before You as children of light; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
E734-469
St. John
The Apostle and Evangelist
John, the apostle and evangelist, a virgin chosen by the Lord, was loved by the Lord above the others.
To the virgin John, Christ, dying on the cross, entrusted his virgin mother.
PRAYER
God our Father,
you have revealed the mysteries of your word through
John the apostle.
By prayer and reflection
may we come to understand
the wisdom he taught.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.

To an Altar Server
To be Christ’s page at the altar,
To serve Him freely there,
Where even the angels falter,
Bowed low in reverent prayer.
To touch the throne most holy,
To hand the gifts for the feast,
To see Him meekly, lowdy, Descend at the word of the priest.
To hear man’s poor petition,
to sound the silver bell,
When He in sweet submission, Comes down with us to dwell.
No grander mission surely
Could saints or men enjoy;
No heart should love more purely, Than yours, my altar server.
God bless you, lad, forever,
And keep you in His care,
And guard you that you never
Belie the robes you wear.
For white bespeaks untainted
A heart both tried and true;
And red tells love the sainted
And holy martyrs knew. Throughtout life, then, endeavor God’s graces to employ;
And be in heart forever A holy altar server. St. John Berchmann, Patron of Altar Servers

Saint John Bosco
This holy Founder of the Religious Congregation of Priests and Brothers known as the “Salesians of Don Bosco” is one of the Saints of the 20th, century, having been canonized in 1934.
From his earliest youth he dedicated himself to the spiritual and temporal welfare of poor, neglected and delinquent boys. After his ordination he dedicated his entire life to this project and established a system of formation and training for them that has become a model for all similar works. To assist him in his child welfare activities he established not only his Congregation of men but one for women who were to do for girls what the Don Bosco and his men did for boys. These Societies have gained international fame and stature.
Saint John Bosco died on January 31, 1888. On this day his memory is venerated throughout the universal Church.

Saint John Mary
Vianney
Saint John Mary Vianney is familiarly known as the Cure of Ars and as such is the heavenly patron of all parish priests.
He was born of poor parents in Dardilly, France, in 1786. He began his studies for the priesthood at the age of nineteen and only after many failures and difficulties was he ordained in 1815.
He was appointed pastor of the village of Ars where the Faith had pratically vanished. Here he labored for the rest of his life gaining a worldwide reputation as a priest who practiced great penance, exercised a wondrous power in the confessional, and softened the hearts of sinners by his preaching.
After many trials, not the least of which was an obsession by the devil, Father Vianney, exhausted by his labors and his penance, returned his soul to God in 1859- He was canonized in 1929 and his feast is celebrated on August 4.

Saint Kateri
Tekakwitha Prayer
Loving God,
we celebrate Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, “Lily of the Mohawks” as one of Your Son’s most faithful followers.
Help us to turn away all evil
and walk in her footsteps,
sharing our love and concern with others. Let us revere Your mystical presence
in the poor and suffering as did she. Through Kateri’s powerful intercession, we confidently ask You to grant us this special favor we ask for in her name (mention your intentions.)
Share Your healing and peace especially with family, friends, and the sick, whom we commend to Your loving care. We ask this through Your Crucified and Risen Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, the Eternal Word, Who lives with You forever and ever.
Amen.

Saint Lawrence
Our God, who asks us to follow the example of Saint Lawrence, help us to imitate him in his virtues, to love Christ and His word, to love the Mass as our daily bread, and to love our brothers.
And so with this, intercede for me, if it be Your will, to grant me the grace I am seeking.
I know that no one who has turned to You for help has been disappointed, therefore, Our Father, I put in your hands, through Saint Lawrence, my humble supplication.
I ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.

Prayer to St. Luke
Most wonderful St. Luke you were animated by the Heavenly Spirit of Love. In faithfully detailing the humanity of Jesus, you also showed His Divinity and His genuine compassion for all human beings.
May the Holy Spirit, instructor of the faithful, help me to understand Christ’s words and faithfully apply them in my life. Amen.

Saint Margaret
Mary Alacoque
Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque was a devoted member of the Visitation Order. In her Convent at Paray-le- Monial, France, she was visited on several occasions by Christ Who instructed her to promote devotion to His Sacred Heart.
To this apostolate she dedicated the remaining years of her life.
Her efforts met with violent opposition and she suffered much, but the liturgical cult of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with its admirable practice of the First Friday reception of Holy Communion, developed and prospered to the extent that it has become one of the most popular devotions of the Church.
Born in 1647, Saint Margaret Mary died in 1690. Her Feast is celebrated on October 17.
